GETTING TO KNOW ANALOGUE AGAIN, WITH MY OLD FRIEND THE MINOX 35.

It’s been a long time since I used film. I reckon circa 20 years. Recently, I’ve started to miss the process a lot. By which I don’t really mean the chemistry (although I did love doing that). Rather, I mean the practice.

I tire of the digital way of doing things. The digital FOMO that comes with it leads to endless, unnecessary bracketing, and the unending chore of sifting through hundreds, if not thousands, of images on each project and job.

I find that to be a miserable job, borne of a creative anxiety, and just generally have found my confidence in my own work being eroded substantially over the last few years.

In the hopes of finding a more measured and intentional approach to my work, digital or otherwise, I’ve started to experiment with analogue photography again. My first real foray, was with camera above, earlier this month.

In the video, I explain my love for the Minox, from another era, and explore if I have room for the diminutive masterwork in my gear stash now. More specifically, it’s an interesting camera for someone like me, who has chronic fatigue and neurological issues.

Maybe there’s someone out there in the same boat, for whom this might spark something.

Here’s hoping.
